I was fascinated by the history of the eye pin. I always thought those pins were grotesque but now that I know the history, I want one or at least I treasure the idea. The Japanese room spray

is intriguing. Thank you for all your insights o. the phone. Your newsletter is a joy to read.

Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson

Not sure how that happened, but I just finished Meet Me at the Museum and it was lovely. It’s not new, just new to me, and I loved the gentleness of it. I got The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan from the library, but I haven’t made up my mind about it. I feel I need a story to hold my attention firmly, to block out current events, but not be so suspenseful or exciting that it causes more anxiety.

I love that geranium! I love pretty much any plant with a variegated leaf.

Any suggestions are where to search for a bright, cheery, wildly colorful cotton shower curtain? I may have to make my own, but buying would be easier! ;)

I’ve ordered three of these - one I use as a shower curtain! https://amzn.to/4luachl

The Thursday Night Murder Club books got me back into fiction. Perfect summer reading! Enjoy!

I read there is going to be a TV show ... which will either be delightful or ruin it, LOL!

I watched the trailer, and I'm skeptical, but I loved the books so much, I'll probably give it a try.

I am likewise skeptical but will try as well!

I'm re-reading Heartburn by Nora Ephron; it lands so differently in my 40s than it did in my 20s. I also enjoyed Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab. The Signature of All Things is a beautiful botanically themed novel by Elizabeth Gilbert. As a gardener I adored it... prose about moss and so on.

Oh these are all great - and prose about moss sounds very relaxing! I really enjoyed VE Schwab's Shades of Magic series but couldn't get into the next few books - but will try again! Thank you!

Those blocks are lovely. I teach pre-school and I think my children would love them.

Oh, that makes me happy - they seem to have multiple dimensions to them, the blocks and then the color / light play!

I want that geranium!!! I’m extremely into geraniums out of the blue; is this a sign of aging?

The Thursday Murders books are sheer pleasure. I read all of them over thanksgiving weekend last year; I’m in a major reading slump myself this year and maybe I should just reread them!

I’ve been a geranium-head since I was 18 - so either I was old before my time or it’s a fever that catches you when it catches you! A reading slump is the worst of the slumps - have you read the St Mary’s series about time travel - Jodi Taylor - the first one is “It’s just one damn thing after another” ?

No—I’ll look it up! I’m slowly working my way through non-fiction since I can’t seem to engage with any characters at the moment 😅. Actually you’d lose it for my favorite of the year; have you read The Light Eaters, about plant intelligence???????
